SASHAH RAHEMTULLA (she/her)

  • RYS 200

Sashah has practiced yoga since she was a teen and found a connection to her own culture and heritage through it. She is deeply committed to social justice and has worked as a Social Worker, Counsellor, and Gender Equality Advisor. Sashah loves to travel and has lived abroad in Indonesia, South Korea, and Tanzania which has taught her a lot about how to appreciate culture. Currently, she loves having conversations about yoga can be a part of activism and how to appreciate the practice rather than appropriate it.

What do you think your phone wallpaper would tell us about you?

That I'm pretty into sunsets and self acceptance.

As child, what did you think you wanted to be?

I used to say I wanted to be an artist and a model, lol.

The artist part I get! Creating is a great joy of mine. Model part seemed glamorous, I guess! We could go down a whole beauty myth convo on that one!

What is something you wouldn’t want to change about yourself?

My fire. I have feelings, I have passion and when I care, I really care. I think this is a key part of who I am. It can be uncomfortable at times because not everyone appreciates my fire, but I do and the people who love me do too!
